Homemade Pecan Porridge with Pears

Warm pecan porridge infused with cinnamon, topped with sweet pears and crunchy nuts. A comforting, fibre-rich breakfast that supports heart health and lowers cholesterol while delivering natural sweetness and creaminess.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 80 g rolled oats
  • 2 cups 480 ml oat or almond milk (or low fat milk if preferred)
  • 1 ripe pear skin on for extra fibre
  • 2 chopped pecans plus extra for topping
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground flaxseed or chia seeds optional, for extra fibre & omega-3
  • 2 tsp honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness

Method
 

  1. Combine the oats and milk in a saucepan and stir.
  2. Dice half the pear and stir in with the cinnamon, flaxseed and chia seed bring to the boil.
  3. Cook for 5–7 minutes or until the oats are creamy and the pears soften.
  4. Stir in the chopped pecans just before serving.
  5. Divide into 2 bowls, sprinkle with the remaining pear (sliced), extra pecans and drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired.
